Prophetic ministry is a ministry, which is based on spiritual revelation.   It is different from “prophecy” in which involves the action of things being revealed, and it is under the roof of prophetic ministry.

In a nutshell, prophetic ministry is to minister to the people of God that speaks God’s mind and heart to edify, encourage and exhort for believers and non-believers.

Its main purpose is to

• strengthen,
• encourage and,
• bring comfort to the people.

For the church (Body of Christ) is to

• build up,
• stir up, and
• cheering God’s people to do great things.

In this article, we will share with you the 2 Concept about the purpose and functionality of Prophetic Ministry. The first Concept is “Prophetic ministry is always to strengthen, encourage and comfort”, and the seconded Concept “We can all prophesy: every believer can hear God.”  

Concept #1 Prophetic ministry is always to strengthen, encourage and comfort.

 

Attitude of Prophetic Ministry:

We are called to be good stewards of God’s Grace, prophetic ministry is about serving each other as the body of Christ to impart Faith, Hope and Love. (1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 13:10; 1 Corinthians 13:13)

 

Why is Prophetic Ministry Important?

Prophetic ministry releases the truth and the power of Heaven that Jesus has displayed His authority on earth. It reveals that we are His witness when we cooperate with the Holy Spirit. Prophetic ministry testifies that Jesus is alive.

Prophetic Ministry is an expression of our Life and our Faith in God (John 6:63). It allow us as believers to play our part in God’s Heavenly Kingdom. We ought to grow into maturity when being part of this prophetic Ministry, which means we need to have self-control in our emotions, speech and action to reveal the glory and character of Christ. With Christ grace we will be empower to do so.

 

Concept #2 We can all prophesy: every believer can hear God.

 

How can we prophesy: As a believer, we can hear God’s voice or receive unique impression from our spirit and convey it to the people who God appoint to receive.

  Having a steadfast mind, heart and spirit when being the minister in the Prophetic Ministry   To be sensitive towards the voice of God, it is a continuous effort to walk in holiness.   “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9).    Being the vessel for God to let His Holy Spirit flow through you is one of the greatest privilege given by God while ministering to your brothers/sisters in Christ.  

 If you have Make up your mind to pursue God’s prophetic ministry, be assured that The Holy Spirit will teach you, remind you all things, guide you, speak to you and tell you what you need to know to speak to the person we minister to. (John 14:26; John 16:13) He will not leave you hanging in mid air while ministering to your fellow believers.

 

Why does God desire us to function in the prophetic gifts?

 

In the Bible Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.

 

In short, it is God fulfilling His promise in the Old Testament. Back in the days, only prophets could hear or meet God face to face and be the only few spokesperson for the majority of the Jews community. In turn, has given false prophets the opportunity to manipulate The Israelites and lead them away from the instructions of God. Read Jeremiah 29.

 

Prophetic ministry is also part of church ministry, and should not be neglected or abandoned just because no one studies it or develop this ministry which is full of mystery of God.

 

It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out. (Proverbs 25:2 ESV)

  It is also God’s evangelical tool to reach out to the non-believers, and God’s throne room for the believers to receive revelation, empowerment, decision-making or direction in life. It is a blessed and divine ministry where the Holy Water of God flows out from His temple (Ezekiel 47:1-2)
