There are many kinds of Christian around the world, Sunday Church Christians (those who come to attend church only on Sunday and be worldly from Monday to Saturday), Radical Christians (Those who are full-on with the Fire of Christ – Passionate about Evangelising The Gospel to the Non-Believers), and there are the commoner Christians (those who work and stay among the other non-believers but day-to-day they would consistently walk with God on a daily basis).
Mega churches pushes their church-goers beyond the Sunday Church Christians and encouraged them to be Radical Christians. But the question goes back to which category is God’s favourite?
Sunday Church go-ers
in the eyes of God are Luke warm Christians, and God hates Luke Warm Christian.
From Revelation 3:15-17 we can see that God despite Lukewarm Christians.
15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
Commoner Christians
who consistently walk with the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. You do not have to be a Church Pastor or Intercessor to own such relationship with God. Just seek Him each morning and spare 30 minutes of your time in your daily life reading His words and be in His Presence. The reward of seeking Him with a Simple and Pure Heart are the “Delicious Attitude” God – Our Father desires from us.
Practising the word of God would be easy as His Spirit is In You and On you. Being commoner Christians, you have a mission too, that is in your daily life, be Christ testimony to those who are still in darkness.
Radical Christians
many thought that being Radical Christians, being full-on Fire for God is God’s favourite. Sometimes the case might not be as what you see or might think it is. I have met many Radical Christians who boast about being used by God but in their heart, God is not there; only their pride and they Crown themselves as King over the ministry God asked them to start. We as Christians, we have to be careful and alert with our intention of having Mega-size Ministry.
God is your Master, Not the Ministry.
Serving in Ministry being used by God initially can really build the fame of Radical Christians Minister, but those famous minister should consistently remind their audiences that the minister on the stage are just vessels’ of God, always return the glory back to God and never own it, since God is using us to glorify Him are we not also sharing His glory?
Hence, they should remind their audiences to seek God each day in their quiet time, to seek the Will of God, to be used by God in different fields of the world.
Some Humble Ministers with Mega-size ministry would on a daily basis seek God in their quiet time, just so that they know they are in “Pace with God”; Their Master.
Do not walk in the ways of selfishness like King Saul. Who God had to dethroned him in his old age.
What kind of a Christian am I?
Initially, attending church I thought that being called into the Ministry of Prophet I had to be full-on FIRE. When the leaders wanted me to attend University Evangelism, I would be there. When the leaders wanted me to be attend Prayer Meeting (even though travelling to the place might sometimes take 45minutes), I will be there. When on Saturday I could have rest, when they organise a picnic or group devotional I would be there.
Sometimes, they would overuse the verse from the book of Matthew.
Matthew 5:41 New International Version (NIV)
41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
But we as Christians, we have to understand that sometimes if we have more important things such as revising for an exam which would take place in the next day, please prioritised on your studies than to travel 45 minutes to the prayer meeting venue and spend 2 hours praying and travel back taking another 45 minute of your day, when as a Christian at that moment of time you should glorify God with your studies or work.
My Testimony
I had this very bad experience with one of the leaders in my church. The students were being pressured to attend a church prayer which happens every fortnight Tuesday. However, I had an Exam the next day, even though I had ample of time to study, but its LAW! Reading back and forth on the theory and lecturer notes aren’t enough, as the questions are tricky.
So I messaged my Unit Leader, she gave me a customised message which she usually send to those who do not come to prayer meeting.
Message was like this:” If you think not going to prayer meeting will help you more in your study revision, then don’t come. But in every situation of the time you should had prepare and prioritised your time to study when you know tonight is Church Prayer Meeting, Melissa (Fake Name*) also has exam tomorrow but she chose to show up, does that mean she is silly to come, No! She had Faith in God. So the question goes back to you, Do you have Faith In God that He will help you pass the test after you had studied.”
When receiving her replied message, I felt the invisible pressure from her. I took the bus to the prayer meeting location and when I arrived to the destinated bus station. I used wisdom to evaluate the importance of both event, and took the courage to disobey my Unit Leader, and took the bus home, I told God in my heart, “I am sorry, but the exam to get a good grade is more important as a student then to come worship and pray to you. Judge me if you think I am wrong.”
I was grateful towards my own decision to go home and study, as I got a good grade for that course. Was the leader of God unhappy; Yes! But is God unhappy? No! He is always proud of me, as He sees Jesus when He sees me.
* A note to the church leaders, not all students are as smart as the ‘Melissa’ in my testimony, who had faith when the next day was her exam. God created all people with different standard of intellectual mind. Do not compare the thumb to the pinky, and do not compare the eyes to the nose.
Be always ready to discern, knowing what to answer would be the best to help people respond and grow in God.
Note to the Young-Believers of Christ, if you felt trapped by doing what is right, go to God and seek and pray to our Creator. If your decision is wrong, God – Our Father, will send someone, or cause a situation to block you from making major mistakes.
I am sorry that being a Christian, sometimes there are Leaders of God that might not be in step with God and misguide or mislead His Sheep and cause hurt. That is the reason why, reading the Bible> The Word of God > The Logos of God first hand is so important, God would definitely speak to you with His word. I promise You will see God from His word and He will reveal His Secret and Will to you, If only you read it each day, treating it food to your soul.
